Less than a Month to go, before we start a new chapter in our busy lives.

Have you ever found yourself in such a tangled mess, that you can’t find the way you came in, not to mention the door outta there?
Well this week has been mess, no. Scratch that, the past few weeks have been a total mess!! I don’t mean mess, as in a ‘bad’ mess, just Good, Bad, Hectic, Exciting, and extremely exhausting, and we all know what comes with weeks of exhausting, messy messes….. The good, the bad, & the ugly – as far as emotions go.
>>  Ok, so the events…
We got an above ground #pool – Its not the Ritz, but it will keep us cool when need be… We filled it up, and I had fun tanning in it as it filled up, until we noticed AFTER it was completely full, that it had sunk into the ground a good two feet!! A serious bummer to say the least. We had to drain it, which took about 3X longer than It did to fill it. My awesome Dad came over one day last week, and helped me level it out… It looks pretty good, now – I just hope its dosen’t sink more.  Now, since we are getting all of these massive storm cells, and monsoons, we are leaving the task of filling up the pool to good ole’ Mother Nature.
And, YES!! I have already gotten a 4 hour BURN… so much for covering up those tan lines. I look like a Chamellion!! Yeah, yeah – Laugh it up. ^.^
I was moving plants around in my torched Greenhouse, the day before yesterday, when I found a #Tiny #Diamondback #Snake in the top of one of my Rosemary bushes. Now, hear me out. . . I don’t like to purposely hurt or kill anything, unless it could hurt me. This little guy was about six inches, maybe eight inches at the most, and had already struck at me twice, when I decided to put him in a box, and make him chill out a while. Now, maybe, If I can find a lid for am old aquarium of mine, I could keep it in the house… JUST KIDDING!! He’s long dead. I checked on him today, and he’s a gonner, the Greenhouse ants are having a feast. That’s what he gets for taking up shop in MY Greenhouse, and trying to bite me. He should just be glad I didn’t have a lighter nearby, I have been known to be a bit of a Pyro.
I have had one scheduled shoot after another these past few days. (Hey! I’m not complaining!!) Mostly Maternity & Newborn shoots, I love these types of shoots. You get to see the family’s at their most romantic times; love is such a beautiful thing.
As you already know, my husband is a Law Enforcement Officer, or a Copper, as I like to say. He has been in Law Enforcement for nearly 19 years, and his last day is August 1st. That is prime time, he will no longer be a full time Copper, but a Reserve Law Enforcement Officer. The beginning of August he is good to Virginia, to visit family (I am staying put, its cheaper), but when he gets back, he will be attending a local (and highly rated) CDL School.

Now, this is breaking point for both of us. I am doing my best to keep us afloat, as far as finances and bills go. I am pushing both of my Photography businesses to the next level (JFox’C Photography TM & Voluptuous Volpe TM Photography) I have a LOT planned for both of them, as well as a possible third. With that being said, I am currently looking for sponsoring; business to helpus out with articles for our shoots; and models between the ages of 18-37 (Size, Race, Height – are not an issue).

I have already begun to build my team of experts. It can be a daunting task, but it is so #Rewarding in the end!!

On a closing note:: I had a late lunch with a close friend of mine. We just talked about the stuff we love, recent happenings, the crazy Georgia weather, all awhile munching in Chick-Fil-a.  I miss spending time with my closest friends; something about catching up that just puts me at ease.
I hope all of you have enjoyed reading this post; I apologize for neglecting my Blog and you as my followers so. It is not intentional.

Atlanta Food Truck Park Celebrates 1st Anniversary with 3-Day Event

A year ago, Howard Hsu opened his Atlanta Food Truck Park and 4,000 people came out to have a taste of what has become one of Atlanta’s trendiest places to grab a bite of unique food, gab with friends or take a date.

Now, Hsu is hosting the park’s anniversary celebration, Passport to Flavors, all weekend long. The event was scheduled to begin Thursday afternoon, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Hsu figures that about 2,000 people will visit the park each day of the Passport to Flavors event for a total of about 6,000 people overall.

Each day is a different tribute to the unique food trucks that have become favorites over the last year, a way to celebrate “the ones that helped us bring the food truck park into existence,” explained Hsu, who also owns and operates the Sweet Auburn Barbecue food truck.

The event will feature unique dishes with international flavors, food truck tastings, live music and entertainment. (A full schedule is included below.)

Opening and running the park hasn’t always been a smooth ride, Hsu said. He spent a lot of the last year “really just figuring it out…building a loyal following and finding out not only what the fans want, but what the food truck owners want.”

“It’s been a learning curve. It’s been interesting and very fun getting to know all the different food truck owners.”

One thing is for certain, Hsu loves his job as director of Atlanta Food Truck Park and who wouldn’t? It’s a job with tons of amazing food, which brings people from all walks of life together in one spot on Howell Mill Road.

“My favorite part has been all the good food. I love meeting all the different people from different backgrounds.”

After all the anniversary fun has concluded, the park will open Tuesday for its regular summer hours:  Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday – Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, 12 to 7 p.m. The park remains closed on Mondays.

The event is free, but you will need to bring cash to pay for food items.

Friday, April 5: “Night of the Dragon” (5 to 9:30 p.m.): It’s an Asian sensation and celebration with these participating food trucks: Filipino, Viet-Nomie, Sweet Auburn BBQ, Kind of Pops: Thai Tea popsicle, Featured Beverage: Lychee-Spiked Lemonade, Entertainment: Lion & Dragon Dance Performance Troop.

Saturday, April 6: “MasalaFest” (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): A taste of India’s street food, sponsored by the MasalaFresh food truck. Dessert table of assorted Indian treats. Featured Beverages: Mango Lassi and Papaya Lassi. Entertainment: Henna tattoo artist, Indian DJ and music

Saturday, April 6: “Island Vibes”  (5 to 9 p.m.): Come on, Mon! This Saturday night, the spotlight is on food trucks  offering authentic Caribbean cuisine. Participating trucks include: One Love Jerk Grille, Healthful Essence. Featured Beverage: Island Punch. Entertainment: Live performances by DJ Badd Street.

Sunday, April 7: “World Beats: Family Day” (12 to 7 p.m.): It’s a family-inspired food truck festival with cooking demonstrations and tastings, face painting, inflatables and more! Featured Beverage: Blueberry Lemonade & Mint Tea. Entertainment: DJ Rasyrious & The CatDaddies.

The Atlanta Food Truck Park & Market, Atlanta’s first permanent street food park, is located on a three-acre lot at 1850 Howell Mill Road.

Here is a link for those of you that either have a food truck, that recieve expensive tickets, due to short parking times; or businesses or property owners, willing to help out food truck owners and give them a break; by allowing parking for food truck parking, only.

“I just saw that broken link… In my last post. Whoops!”

So, I went back to find the pin, for the broken link, But I can’t find it, … I am sorry!! I hate it as much as you do – I really wanted to check that website out later, But hey! @ least I can make up for it, RIGHT?? Yep! Enjoyz! ~Ami

Thrifty Thursday…String Storage

Welcome to another Thrifty Thursday…using what we have around the house (or super cheap things) to make our lives a little easier.
Today, it’s string storage. I know, trivial, but we all have string right? Well, here’s the new string idea in my sewing room…mounted on the wall.

We all have baskets around the house, but if not, these are from The Dollar Tree for…you guessed it…$1.00.
The baskets hold your balls of string. It’s easy to see, contains them without the balls going every where and the baskets could hold more than one ball too.

I don’t have small children around my house, so I hooked scissors on the basket for easy cutting!

The holes in these baskets allows for the string to be threaded through…just pull as much as you need and cut!! The rolls of string stay inside the baskets.
Easy peasy!

Hope you have a Thrifty Thursday, ~Karen~

Here are some of the ones I just pinned a few min ago, to my boards. . .

New Planning in the New Year of 2013

Oh, …. ! I am so excited!! As you know, the hubbs and I have been “moving day in and day out”, because the hubbs has a funky schedule, he can’t do it for just a few days straight. So when we do get an entire day to move, we borrow my dad, his truck & trailer, and get as many loads as humanly possible, that day allows for.
  Well, this Wednesday, we are renting a 26′ box truck, and getting the rest of our belongings OUT! I am sick and tired of moving all of this stuff!! We are selling our micro suede couch, because we just don’t have room for it. Its a 3 piece sectional, sage green, with lots of options. I kinda hate to get rid of the thing, but what else can we do? I would hate to see it seriously squished in storage, (if, that is, we could squeeze it in, somewhere…?) We both would rather see it get used, by someone who really needs it. (I have a special someone, who wants it… >.   Ahem…. I have decided, I want a Garden, and an Inground Fire Pit! I have been thinking on both topics, for a few days, now. Trying to decide locations for both, what I want to plant in the gardens, what size and how many functionalitys I want with the fire pit. So, this Thursday, my mom is coming over, to our new house, to talk garden. {Both my dad & My hubbs are going to want to kill me, but that is the fun of it! Right?}

   When my grandmother was alive, she was THE green thumb around here. My grandfather was the cattle herder, and horse breeder. Over the years, because of all of the livestock, and steady gardening, de-weeding, pruning, and everything else that they did here, at their home, {Our new home} has not only seriously helped keep the grounds here in exceptional shape, but it has also helped give me multiple ideas of how to keep the grounds up to par, where to put what, and will help me keep the grounds looking similar to the way my grandmother would have had it. She is with me,in my mind and in my actions, every single day. I miss her so much, I guess gardening here, is a way for me to “keep her alive”.  When it is all said & done, I don’t have a doubt in my mind, that my grandmother will be smiling down from heaven. {I will have to post pics of my progress!!}

I know I want a veggie garden, or better said, a very extensive veggie garden. However, I will have to add to it as I go, because we don’t have a lot of $ right now. I am planning on asking my father to till the garden with his tractor, when I decide where exactly I want it.

I have also been thinking, I want a Lavender garden, and that got me thinking, “Why not just have the Lavender up my the end of the house, with the already existing White Lilly’s and Daffodills are, and put a beautiful, hearty flower garden, in the field, where the Miscanthsus is, and {Around the corner from where I want to put the veggie garden.} I have always wanted a Rock Garden, too. I don’t know if this has something to do with my love for succulent plants, or what, but I have an entire kitchen window full of them, and it is about time they have their own garden. These are some of the 40+ $1 – $3 clearance items, that I found at Lowes, a few weeks back. I managed to get some exceptional plants, from that buy. This particular succulent mix, in my kitchen window, has been multiplying so fast, that I can’t get them all rooted in time! I can happily say, that  when I do get a Rock & Succulent Garden going, I won’t have a problem with dying plants!! ^.^

Our Family Trip to Jamestown, Virginia in November of 2012

image

image I took this with my Android; It was a view of the ocean, between the wooden planked fence, from back in the era, on the Island of Jamestown. I have another picture, that is simular, but I like this one better.

image A little History, n’ some insight on the area, statue, and era.

image I was standing directly below the chimney, in the house frame. I took this with my phone, I now wish I had taken this with my camera, It would’ve looked SO much better!!
